My name is Roger Bronkema. I am 52 years old. I have been married for 22 years to my wife Jenny. We have two grown boys and a 9 month old grandson named Hunter. We have lived in McConnell IL for 22 years. I grew up and went to school in the Stockton area. After High School I joined the army and served there for three and a half years. When I came back from there I lived in Freeport for about 5 years.

My wife and I were married at Crossroads Community Church and lived for a while in Lena and then we moved to McConnell. I worked various factory jobs at the time and worked at Danfoss Fluid Power for 18 years. During those years we attended McConnell United Methodist. My wife started teaching Sunday school and I became involved with serving on various committees. I was on the SPRC, taught the adult Sunday school and was involved in the youth program. I felt the call to go into pastoral ministry about 9 years ago. I am now the pastor over at the Orangeville UMC and Elizabeth UMC.

I really enjoy being a pastor! I love preaching and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ every Sunday. I like leading and/or being involved in Bible Study. I still enjoy doing ministry with the youth as we have had some great success with the kids over in Warren. I love to “get my hands dirty” in doing ministry work. I have taken many groups to do ministry at places like the Rockford Rescue Mission and various food banks.

I believe the church, as a team, should be there to help, serve, and be involved in the community it resides in. I look forward to seeing how I can serve and help people grow in their discipleship at Pearl City UMC!
